2010 WEST GIPPSLAND JUNIOR
PENNANT
Congratulations to our Junior
Pennant team who made the 2010 final.
Our team consisted of Tom
Couling (Captain) Luke Owen, Scott Mann, Sean MacKenzie, Luke
Graham, Katie MacKenzie, Ryan Ward, Liam Ware, Blake Ward (caddie)
and Mathieson Jenkins (caddie).
I want to thank our players
for their commitment to the 2010 season. Every Wednesday
night they would meet at the golf club and play a practice round,
encouraging each other.
Although we did not have many
wins throughout the season, all the teams were in a similar
circumstance. The only team that went through the season
undefeated was Morwell.
The finals were played at
Mirboo North on Sunday 21st February. The Semi-Finals in the
morning and the Final in the afternoon on a very hot day.
Traralgon played Morwell. Morwell was very confident and
Traralgon felt they had nothing to loose. Traralgon defeated
Morwell 4-3 with Luke Graham the last match going up the
18th hole all square and won 1up to win the semi
final. The other match was Moe verses Yallourn.
Yallourn were the victors.
In the afternoon Traralgon
played Yallourn in very hot conditions. All our players were
lucky to have support from their families who caddied for
them. The heat combined with the hilly Mirboo North course
took its toll on our younger and less experienced players with the
result being 6-1. Congratulations to Yallourn on winning the 2010
West Gippsland Junior Pennant. Yallourn have not won a
Pennant since 1979.
I wish to thank all our
parents and caddies throughout the season for their dedication and
help in transporting players throughout the West Gippsland
district.
